Home Care for Acute Pain:

Keep your head in the most comfortable position—typically looking away from the painful side.
Avoid lifting your arms above shoulder height.
If needed, lie down with your head supported by a pillow to relieve pressure on your neck.

Lower Back and Sciatic Pain

The best position is lying face down with pillows placed under your pelvis, ankles, and a small pillow under your chest for support. This helps when applying ice to your lower back.
An alternative position is lying on your back with your knees bent and a pillow supporting your neck.
Avoid sitting for prolonged periods.

Important Precautions

Move gently and avoid sudden movements, including coughing or sneezing, which could worsen the pain.
Do not apply heat, as this may increase inflammation.
If you experience a loss of bladder or bowel control, seek urgent medical attention by calling for help or going to A&E immediately.
