Consultation and assessment
History, posture scan, appropriate physical examination, ergonomic advice, findings and a general working diagnosis where appropriate.
Your first appointment is a £49 consultation and assessment. You will have time to explain what is happening, Dr Surinder Sandhu will carry out an examination suited to your presentation, and the findings and appropriate options will be explained before you decide what to do next.
The £49 consultation does not include treatment. If a first treatment is clinically appropriate and you choose to proceed on the same day, it costs an additional £69.
The online form requests a receptionist callback. It does not confirm an appointment.
Your consultation and treatment are separate services. The possible costs are shown together so you can understand them before deciding whether to proceed.
History, posture scan, appropriate physical examination, ergonomic advice, findings and a general working diagnosis where appropriate.
Charged separately and provided only if clinically appropriate and you choose to consent.
The total if the £49 consultation and the optional £69 first treatment both take place on the same day.
You are not required to begin treatment, buy a course of care or join a health plan. You can ask questions, decline treatment or take time to consider the options.
You do not need to prepare a detailed medical summary. It can help to bring:
Please arrive at the agreed time. If you may be late or cannot attend, call 01234 353937 as soon as possible.
Dr Sandhu will ask about your symptoms, health history, daily activities and what you would like to be able to do more comfortably. You can pause or ask questions at any time.
Your medical history, medicines, previous injuries and other relevant factors help determine what examination is suitable and whether chiropractic assessment should continue.
The consultation includes a posture scan and a comprehensive physical examination adapted to your presentation. This may include observation, movement, orthopaedic, neurological or other relevant clinical tests. Not every test is needed for every patient.
The posture scan is one part of the assessment. It is not an X-ray, does not expose you to radiation and does not by itself diagnose a condition.
Dr Sandhu will explain the findings in plain language and, where appropriate, give a general working diagnosis or rationale for care. You will have time to ask what the findings mean and what remains uncertain.
If chiropractic care may be appropriate, the proposed options, expected benefits, material risks, reasonable alternatives, likely frequency or review points and costs will be discussed. A clinical recommendation and a payment arrangement are separate decisions.
Treatment can begin only with your valid consent. If a first treatment is clinically appropriate and you choose to proceed that day, it is charged separately at £69. You may decline, stop, ask for more information or take time to decide.
Same-day treatment is considered only after the consultation and examination, when Dr Sandhu believes it is clinically appropriate, the proposed treatment has been explained and you choose to consent.
If same-day treatment does not take place, the £49 consultation fee remains the fee for the assessment already provided.
Care is selected for the individual rather than delivered as a fixed package. Depending on the assessment, preferences and consent, Dr Sandhu may draw from chiropractic manual techniques, Activator technique, Thompson Drop technique, Applied Kinesiology, Western medical acupuncture, Muscle Energy Technique, posture and ergonomic guidance, and suitable exercises.
The choice of approach follows the assessment and discussion with you. It is not determined by a standard treatment package.
Not every technique is suitable or necessary for every person. The proposed approach should reflect the assessment, your preferences and your consent.
The Dr Sandhu Method describes how different approaches may be selected and combined according to the assessment, your preferences and consent. The specific techniques used can therefore vary from one person to another.
No particular technique or combination of techniques guarantees a specific result.
Read about the Dr Sandhu MethodThe purpose of assessment is not to make every person a chiropractic patient. The safest next step depends on what the history and examination show.
If the history or examination suggests that chiropractic care is not appropriate, Dr Sandhu will explain the concern and may recommend contacting your GP, NHS 111, another healthcare professional or an emergency service, depending on the situation.
Tell Dr Sandhu about medicines that affect bleeding, a history or increased risk of stroke, serious bone or joint damage, conditions affecting nerves, recent trauma, unexplained systemic symptoms or any other health concern that may affect examination or treatment.
X-rays or other investigations are not routinely included in the £49 consultation.
Dr Sandhu will explain why further investigation may be clinically indicated.
The purpose of the investigation and the information it may provide will be discussed.
Relevant risks or limitations will be explained before you decide whether to proceed.
The likely cost and what alternatives are available will also be discussed.
If further investigation is recommended, you decide whether to proceed through the appropriate provider.
If you and Dr Sandhu agree to a plan of care, it will be based on the assessment and your goals. The proposed approach, expected review points and costs will be explained.
If care begins, the proposed approach and expected review points will be explained so you understand how the plan is intended to proceed.
Progress should be monitored against the assessment and your goals rather than assuming the same plan should continue indefinitely.
The plan can be adapted, paused or ended when appropriate as care progresses.
Ongoing decisions remain connected to your assessment, progress, goals and what remains appropriate as care continues.
Health plans are optional payment arrangements. They do not replace clinical justification, do not commit you to treatment that is no longer appropriate and should be discussed separately from the clinical recommendation.
